What is a product token?

A product token is the digital record of what you manufactured. It contains:

  • Product details (weight, quantity, production date)

  • Material sources (fabric, yarn, trims you used)

  • Traceability data (linked to supplier tokens)

  • Certifications (your factory compliance)

Each token represents 1 kg of product.

Think of it as a digital twin of the physical goods leaving your factory.

When to update tokens?
Update tokens after you finish production of a batch, before shipping to the brand.

Typical flow:

  • Receive purchase order from brand

  • Source materials, manufacture products

  • Production complete → Update token now

  • Ship to brand and send them the tokens

How to update your tokens

Go to: Update > Update Tokens

1. Aware™ Token Type

Fields marked with * are mandatory.

  • Select Brand: Choose the brand you are sending the tokens to.

  • Purchase Order: Select the relevant Purchase Order (PO).

  • Line Item: Identify the specific line item you want to connect the product data to and click 'Select'.

2. Physical Asset

Fill in the physical details of what you produced.

Total Weight (kgs): Enter the total weight of the produced goods.

  • Calculation: (Net weight of one product) x (Total quantity produced).

  • Include trims and accessories, but exclude packaging.

Example: If a product weighs 300g (0.3 kg) and you produced 10,340 pieces, the calculation is 0.3 x 10,340 = 3,102 kg.

3. Link Your Materials

Now connect the materials you used to manufacture this product.

Option A: Use existing tokens (from suppliers on Aware™)

  1. Turn ON the "Aware™ Asset" switch

  2. Select token type (yarn or fabric)

  3. Select the specific tokens you received from your supplier

  4. Enter the amount used + waste

  5. Token deduction and balance auto-calculate

  6. Click "Add Material"

Repeat for each material.

Option B: Add unregistered materials (suppliers not on Aware™)

  1. Leave "Aware™ Asset" switch OFF

  2. Select material type from dropdown

  3. Enter material details manually

  4. For small components (buttons, zippers, labels), use "Non-Fabric Materials" in dropdown

The total weight of all materials must equal the total product weight.

3. Tracer

If you used materials with physical tracer, add that information here.

Aware™ Tracer:
If your supplier's material contains Aware™ tracer, it will show automatically. Just enter the Tracer Positive Scan Date. No need to upload a test report.

  • Third-party tracer:
Select "Custom," enter tracer name, and upload the test report.

  • No tracer? Skip this section.

4. Self Validation (Prove Material Origins)

Self-validation proves the origin of your sustainable materials. By collecting these data points, we validate the sustainability claim, allowing brands to make reliable statements about the final product.

Click 'Add Self Validation' to begin.

For each source, the following is required:

  • Details: Weight (kg), Feedstock type, Supplier type, and Supplier name/address.

  • Mandatory Uploads: Invoice, Packing List, and Proof of Delivery (POD).

  • Optional: You may also upload certifications, lab tests, or other supporting documents.

Declaration: Enter your full name and check the box to confirm that all provided information is true and correct.

5. Company Compliances

This page shows your factory certifications (from your KYB profile).

  • Checkboxes are ON by default = certifications will appear in the Digital Product Passport (DPP).

  • Don't want to show a certification? Uncheck the box.

  • Missing a certification? Add it through Settings > KYB Profile.

6. Review and Submit

Review the summary page one final time to ensure accuracy before clicking 'Submit'.

You'll see a summary of everything you entered.

Review carefully:

  • Product weight correct?

  • All materials linked?

  • Total material weight = total product weight?

  • Certifications accurate?

Everything look good? Click "Submit"

Your tokens are now updated.

You've completed Step 4 ✓

Next: Step 5: Send Product Tokens to Brands →

Now that you've updated the token, you'll send it to the brand customer. This gives them full visibility into your production and supply chain.
